Pro Tackle was formed in 1983 from a business purchased by Peter Hazard from Bill and Norma Lound in 1981. First known as Lound’s Bait and Tackle and situated near the rail crossing on Boundary Street, Railway Estate. The shop became known as Lound’s Pro Tackle and then Pro Tackle in the late 1980’s. In 1990 Pro Tackle merged with The Tackle Shack at a new location at Ross River Road, Aitkenvale. Pro Tackle’s current home, for the past 5 years, is on Dalrymple Road, Garbutt.
Pro Tackle and Peter Hazard have seen a lot of changes over the past 30 years. All the Tackle shops that were there in 1981 have gone and a few more have fallen over in the intervening years. How has Pro Tackle survived? Peter puts it down to their Mission Statement “Serious about our service and proud of our people”, stocking good quality fishing tackle at competitive prices, working closely with companies like Shimano, ABU Purefishing, Wilson and Co., Halco, Plano and Tacspo. Companies that have been in the market for a long time and are prepared to back their products with warranties. We have the best people to service our customers. People who know about fishing and relate to customer requirements.
Our staff is our biggest asset. They are experts in their field and also good when it comes to fitting out some gear with the junior fisherperson.

Terry Stevens (Manager)
Terry has been fishing for over 40 years. He has fished for everything from Ling in Victoria to Marlin on the GBR. Terry loves Fly Fishing and his favourite combo is a 9wt Redington Fly Rod. He loves to catch any type of fish that can be sight cast and owns a shiny new 5.5m Formosa Centre Cab with 115 4-stoke Suzuki.
Matt has been fishing from about 5 years of age. He is especially fond of Jigging and Fly Fishing. Matt is addicted to chasing Permit on fly. He is on the look out for a boat and might be keen to deckie if someone is in need!
